Joey Rourke Legacy

Loozegear.com Designer wear & Accessories
I would never have thought that something like a glass door could come between my husband and me (not in the literal sense),but that is exactly what happened after we moved into our new Miami home in 2001. The glass door in question was the door that led to our back yard and had an etching of a Macaw perched on the handle bar of a Harley Davidson and I totally fell in love with it.
pict0003-1.JPG
The macaw, named Romeo and the Harley were both prided possessions of the former owner the late Joey Rourke, brother of Hollywood superstar Mickey Rourke who had them both immortalized in this piece of glass. When asked about the door Joey explained it was a dedication to Romeo, his Harley Davidson and the Miami bike shop partnership “Mickey & Joey’s” they had previously owned.

When we viewed the house I don’t remember too much about the Harley ,but I do remember the majestic royal blue & gold Romeo being the loudest thing I had ever heard outside of an airport runway.

pict0009.JPG
My husband although loved the house was less than enthusiastic about the door and wanted to change it for a plain glass door.He thought the door cheesy and “it had to go”. As far as I was concerned the door was a part of the house’s history and with the passing of Joey Rourke some 4 years ago, the tie seemingly became stronger.

Whenever my husband and I discussed re-modeling the back room, the conversation would inevitably go back to changing the door and using typical male logic like the advantages of hurricane resistant glass and I would change the subject, removal of the door was not up for negotiation.
pict0008.JPG
But after six long years of doing battle and the perceived threat of increased hurricane activity I finally succumbed to the idea of replacing all of the doors and windows with the impact resistant type throughout.
It will be sad to see the door go it’s given me many happy moments and has been a great conversation piece at parties and get together’s, I hope it will do the same for whoever the new owner is.
Although my Husband got his way in the end he is was a little sad to see it go too.
The door is available on EBAY

PeTA (People for the ethical treatment of animals) Have approached Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood according to top UK website female first.

Both McCartney and Westwood have been approached by PeTA ( the animal rights organization) to design a new, ethical alternative to the traditional real bearskin hats, worn by Queen Elizabeth’s guards at Buckingham Palace.

The animal rights group have met with the Ministry of Defence to talk about new ideas for replacing the historical hats, following a massive media campaign, in which activists protested completely naked outside Buckingham Palace.

“Most people think it’s fake fur and when they find out it’s real and it takes one bear to make a hat, they are appalled,” says Robbie LeBlanc, PeTA’s director for Europe.

Ministry of defence spokesman said “We are pleased that PeTA acknowledges the progress MoD has made in producing faux fur alternatives for other ceremonial clothing, such as the busby cap worn by members of the Royal Horse Artillery and the leopard skins previously used by musicians.”

He added that an industry day had been scheduled for October to explore the issue further, BBC.CO.UK reports.

Wearing what you want, feeling comfortable and looking good.

Despite what many people think you don’t have to break the bank or even rob one to look good these days, fashion has become accessible to almost anyone who wants it.

Buying great stuff has never been easier or cheaper with the emergence of ebay, the likes of Amazon, Overstock and other big outlets ,the benefit of more competion has meant that prices have come tumbling for the latest designer gear.

Now you can look great and even with the modest of budgets .

Of course there is always going to be stuff out there that is out of reach for the majority of us such as ridiculous $2000.00 suit or the outrageous $750.00 purse, but the key is getting a similar style at a familiar price.

Tips for looking good at a price you can afford

Look good with Used or vintage fashion gear.

Designer fashion wear that has hardly been used or worn at a fraction of the original retail price, if it is bought in mint condition who will know that it is used. Even distressed used gear fits in with today’s fashion world cause distress is in thanks to Abercrombie & Fitch!

Ransacking your local thrift shop is a great way of finding vintage or used designer gear, With a little time and patience you maybe be able to unearth some stunning treasures with the added bonus you could be helping a local worthy cause.

In this day and age buying vintage or used fashion doesn’t mean you don’t even have venture outside your own front door to get that OMG bargain !

On ebay you can get all sorts of used and new fashion apparel world wide from thousands of sellers using safe online payment options such as Paypal, with the likelihood that you pay a fraction of the original price and get a great deal.

Look good with fashion inspired collections.

Not counterfeit or knock off s!!

Fashion inspired means clothing and accessories that are made to look like a particular fashion design for example Dooney & Bourkes zebra and giraffe print and faux finished handbags have been imitated by less popular brands ,but cost less and look great none the less. Keeping tabs on what celebrities are wearing at premier events and fashion shows or in magazines and newspapers will give you ideas for designer inspired look-alikes you can also find these on ebay in their millions and again are available at bargain

prices. Some celebrities even have their own line of fashion which are available online at surprisingly low prices.

Some of the best deals to be had are for free! look in moms and dads closets and you may find an old bag or a cool jacket from the eighties or nineties that is back in fashion, adding an individual style to your appearance.

Best Dressed McCain Or Obama Who Gets Your Vote?

Mccain

The upcoming general election has not only given us an incite (or not depending on where you stand) of the political positions of the candidates but also a glimpse of how they and their partners will maybe dress for the Job of President and first Lady.

If the general election was decided upon who was best dressed who would you vote for? Obama or McCain and what about the presumptive first ladies sense of fashion will they grace the white house with the panache of Jackie O or the Elegance of Laura Bush.

Obama V McCain

Barrack Obama’s youthful, tall slim physic puts him at an advantage over the older stockier figure of John McCain when it comes to fashion policy meaning he can be liberal with most of what he wears.Choosing close fitting suits often seen jacket and tie less manages to look good formally or casually. (Latest fashion accessory lapel Pin)

John McCain as the elder statesman is restricted to wearing clothes fitting of his age wearing older styled suits jackets and pants not too conservative though as the tie shows . Although an older style wise choices make him look comfortable with what he wears.(Latest fashion accessory Baseball cap)

No matter how good or bad both of these candidates turn out to be you can be sure that both of their wives wont let them down when it comes to turning out. Both Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain have shown they can look fantastic whenever the occasion arises and they both get my vote.

The trend setters in international politics Frances Nicholas & Carla Bruni Sarkozy , Italy’s Silvio & Veronica Lario Berlusconi are a new breed of politician not out of place in an Armarni suit and a beautiful wife draped in Dior or Chanel www.loozegear.com

LESS GAS MEANS MORE BLING!!!

LESS GAS MEANS MORE BLING!!!

Loozegear.com Designer wear & Accessories

The conversion of gas into bling!

In keeping with America’s new found interest for gas conservation and environmental awareness I recently traded in my 8 seater SUV Honda pilot for a convertible Mini Cooper S.

Although I loved the comfort of my pilot it’s unrelenting thirst for petroleum meant that I was filling it up a little over 1 1/4 times a week (too many stops) and over $4.00 a gallon you do the math. I filled up my mini 3 weeks and 1 day ago and still have a 1/4 of a tank left!

Driving this little car is great , its quick, suprisingly comfortable ,very very chic and great to drive around town , It may be small ,but what it lacks in size it makes up for in huge amounts of fun.

So the really good news is all the money I am saving on gas I can spend on my passion ,handbags and less stops at the gas pump means more time for shopping!

Who would have thought saving the environment could be so much fun!

UK & USA Two Countries Divided By Uncommon Language

loozegear.com Designer wear,handbags and purses.

Moving here from London 9 years ago I knew that life in America would be different but I hadn’t realized to what degree.Although Brits & Americans speak the same language we don’t always speak the same lingo.

Previous to living here my education in all things Americana consisted of two dozen episodes of Frazer, a minor in Friends and a major in Disney World, qualifications that were akin to an ice cream salesman foolishly following Robert Scott’s footsteps to the South pole.

So when it came to operating in the real world the differences between our two cultures really became apparent.Although we speak the same language the words don’t necessarily have the same meaning ,prime example: the word fanny here in the US refers to somebodies backside, in the UK it refers to the female front side.
